Dear Guest,
The Metropole is unlike any other hotel.
Opened in 1895, the Metropole was actually an afterthought. Built by a brewer’s family, the hotel was added to the café they had opened, to promote its range of beers on the famous Place de Brouckère. Today, it features the grandest hotel interior in Brussels. The main entrance is all French Renaissance frivolity, leading to an Empire style reception hall replete with gold stained glass windows characteristic of the city's art nouveau heritage. It has a sumptuous lobby glittering with chandeliers, and retains many of it original features. The rooms, all containing original pieces and furnishings, are a mix of art deco, art nouveau and modern style. It is marvellously located right at the historical centre of the European capital, just steps from the Grand Palace, the Bourse and the Theatre de la Monnaie, and close to the city's most exciting shopping thoroughfare.
Recently restored to its belle epoque glory, it is the only remaining 19th century hotel in Brussels. It has a warm welcoming atmosphere that emphasises both friendly and hospitable service.
The hotel features a bar, a gastronomical restaurant (16/20 GaultMillau guide 2001), 24-hour room service, 10 conference rooms for up to 600 people, a sidewalk cafe with year-round heated terrace - ideal for people watching. The 301 guest rooms and suites are spacious, comfortable and equipped with cable satellite TV, video on demand, in-room games, minibar, radio, direct dial telephone, trouser press, hairdryer and modem wall socket. Free internet access is provided as well as in-room internet access through the TV.
Our award-winning restaurant, l’Alban Chambon has enjoyed a longstanding reputation for excellence and counts among the ten best restaurants in Brussels. Our Chef, Mr. Dominique Michou, will enchant you with his talent and bold yet traditional cooking.
The Metropole is more than just a luxury hotel, it is a carefully pre-served slice of what has been the best Brussels could offer over the last hundred years. Through the years it has become part of Brussels’s social, economical, political and cultural life, welcoming such famous guests as Albert Einstein, Marie-Curie, Caruso, Arthur Rubinstein, the crew of the Challenger space shuttle and many, many more. Even the bar and café have a reputation of their own.
We don’t want you to merely feel “at home in our home”, but in a place where you can enjoy everything that Brussels and ourselves have to offer. Do as you please. Work, or not, as you choose, and let your mind dwell on your surroundings. Welcome to somewhere new.
The Metropole is everything you would expect from a contemporary hotel, but with tasteful luxury and a unique character.
Looking forward to welcoming you soon, we remain,
